Heather and Jeremy
November 6, 2004
St. Louis, Missouri

ABOUT THE BRIDE: Heather is the Senior Print Buyer for Express Scripts, Inc. She grew up on a large farm in Clarksville, Missouri and moved to St. Louis after graduating from Truman State University to work and attend graduate school at UMSL. Where she proceeded to date every jerk she met.

ABOUT THE GROOM: Jeremy is owner/operator of an auto repair shop, Azar Automotive. He grew up in Chesterfield, Missouri - where he dated a parade of nutcases.

HOW WE MET: On the night I (Heather) was celebrating the purchase of my first house, we were introduced by a mutual friend -- and we took very little notice of one another. On that same night, I met Jeremy's younger brother, Jonas -- and we grew to be very close friends. After six months of friendship, I started dating his older brother. And the jerks and nutcases of St. Louis collectively shrugged their shoulders and moved on.

ENGAGEMENT: After dating for about three years, we were in the midst of a summer filled with weddings. While discussing all the weddings going on around us, conversation turned to what our wedding should be like. After three hours of wedding talk, we figured that since we'd decided what our wedding would be like, maybe we should decide when our wedding would be. So we did. A few months later Jeremy asked my father for his blessing and we were good to go!

PLANNING: I am a serious control freak, so I did all of the planning myself -- with the help of my mom, of course! Jeremy really wanted to get married at United Hebrew (where his grandfather attends services), so that was an easy decision - and that's where the easy decisions ended.

ATTIRE: I wore a beautiful ivory two piece strapless corset wedding dress. The corseted top was encrusted with beading and crystals, and the skirt was a gorgeous heavy silk with box pleats. As a woman who had been in many, many weddings and had a closet full of bridesmaid dresses, I wanted to go easy on my girls. They were from all over the country (from Denver to Boca Raton and everywhere in between). So I told each of them to wear a full length formal classic black dress of their choosing (no frills, lace, beading or sequins) -- if they already had one that was fine, if they wanted a new expensive one that was fine, or if they found an inexpensive dress, that was fine as well. And it looked beautiful -- all the dresses coordinated perfectly and looked like they'd been planned together. Danielle Erb did the hair and makeup for the ladies and did an amazing job -- I've seriously never looked so pretty in all my life. Jeremy chose classic black tuxedos for himself and the men of the wedding party with ivory shirts.

THE CEREMONY: Originally, we'd planned on a ceremony representing both of our religions. Then I attended my first Jewish wedding and found it so spiritual and moving that I decided we'd have a Jewish wedding. The ceremony was a traditional Jewish ceremony at United Hebrew in Chesterfield, Missouri under a chuppah created for us by my parents. Walking down that aisle on my father's arm will forever be one of the best memories of my life.

THE RECEPTION: The best part! The reception was at the Norman K. Probstein Golf Club in Forest Park. The venue is absolutely beautiful. The decor was amazing, thanks to Sandra Meyer of Petals Galore. The tables each had one of two beautiful centerpieces feauturing deep red roses. The head table (which was huge to accommodate our gigantic wedding party) was lined from left to right with hundreds of tiny white votive candles and then with the beautiful bouquets the bridesmaids and I carried. Music was extremely important to us -- this was a party after all! We were lucky enough to have St. Louis Social Club featuring Kim Massie play for us through the cocktail hour and the sit-down dinner. Then they really cranked it up for the dancing. After all the toasts and dancing were over, we spent the night at Chase Park Plaza. A beautiful end to an amazing day.
